What are the Most Effective Vegetarian Acne Products?
There is a very popular acne relief product which has been heralded as the leading oral supplement for treating anything from light to severe acne. You may have heard of it before. It’s called Clearzine. Clearzine ingredients consist of:
- Vitamin B5
- Witch hazel
Even though all of these individual components are natural and are available in a vegetarian formulation, they are not listed on the Clearzine product as vegetarian or vegan sources. Given that the product does not give full disclosure as to the origin of the individual components we cannot say without absolute certitude whether or not this an effective vegetarian acne product.
We can say that Clearzine is one of the best natural acne products in the world and that is has greater than a 90% success rate when it is evaluated by users of the product and in a laboratory, but whether or not is vegetarian we are unable to ascertain. That being the case, we will of necessity of honesty error on the side of the reader stating that we do not believe Clearzine to be a completely vegetarian product.
Obviously a vegetarian product, this mineral from the earth has been long known for its beneficial properties to the skin. It actually has many skin health benefits including those for acne treatment. The major benefits of zinc are that it boosts the immune system while helping to heal wounds. It also helps to control the amount of oil output from your skin pores. This reduction in oil helps in controlling acne.
You do have to be careful in using zinc too much though. It is a natural copper inhibitor and it can therefore cause you to be copper deficient in your body, if you take too much zinc. That can have dangerous effects on your immune system as well as other body functions. There are two ways to deal with this.
- You can talk to a naturalist (practitioner or health food merchant) about a copper supplement which you would space out from your zinc dose.
- Another option would be to only take the appropriate zinc dosage at times of breakout such as when you have hormonal elevations.
There is a company that makes and advertises their products as vegetarian friendly. They have several products but the ones most heavily noted in forums and discussion boards are the ZenMed Botanical Acne Body Wash and the ZenMed Acne Mask. Both of these products are reported to be fairly successful and loved by vegan users.
And there are many other vegetarian friendly products out there. Sometimes they are not super easy to find, but inquiry is the secret master to discovery. You might even find local products if you inquire with a local health food store or coop.
Another small suggestion is to consider looking for discussion boards on vegan products. You can check out Reddit for tons of acne information. People really don’t mind sharing and talking about their experiences so just ask.
Do keep in mind though if you are not able to find a vegan labeled product that does successfully want you need and/or want your product to do then you may should consider Clearzine as an option. That is of course if it is acceptable for your lifestyle.
